By far "Seek and Destroy" is the most popular song off of Metallica&debut album Kill &All. It deserves this distinction for good reason. It opens with one of most identifiable metal guitar riffs ever written. In this Seek and Destroy guitar lesson series I will demonstrate how to play all the riffs of the song as well as the guitar solo note-for-note. Of all the Metallica songs, "Seek and Destroy" is one of the easiest to play. At least when we are referring to the main riffs of the song. The classic opening riff uses hammer-ons with muted notes to create one of the catchiest riffs you will ever play. From there all of the rhythms are straight forward and quite fun and easy to play. There really shouldn&be anything in the first video lesson that any upper beginner level player can&handle. In the second video lesson I will tackle the fast middle section which includes the one fast riff of the song and that crazy guitar solo. This fast riff will require a nice and relaxed picking hand technique since you have to play lot of rapid downstrokes in succession. If you can keep your picking hand wrist and forearm relaxed you will be able to get this riff down much faster. For the solo, the difficulty level is raised quite a bit. It starts with a couple of straight forward, albeit very fast blues based rock licks.
