It is also the largest wild walnut forest in the world. In fact, Kyrgyzstan&first known export to Europe was the Arslanbob walnut. The population of Arslanbob was 15,196 in 2021. Most of the population are Uzbek, and less than 5% is Kyrgyz, Russian, Tatar, Tajik, or Chechen. Many of the Arslanbob residents work in Russia, sending money back home and supporting the economy in the village. Tourism, animal farming and walnuts are the other major sources of local income. There are many legends about Arslanbob, and particularly about the walnut forest. They even include such prominent figures as Prophet Muhammad and Alexander the Great. #walking
