Enchanting Euphony
"Tango Milonga (Oh, Donna Clara)" was written by Jerzy Petersburski, a Jewish Polish pianist and composer. He is renowned mostly for his tangos. Many of his tangos such as "Tango Milonga" were milestones in the popularization of the musical genre in Poland and are still widely known today. The milonga is a tango dance but is looser, less complex, and faster-paced than the traditional tango as reflected in our interpretation. "Tango Milonga" was composed in 1928 for Stanisława Nowicka, a Polish dancer and singer, and became a major hit. She debuted the song in the &Oko&cabaret in 1929. It was translated into several languages and became popular in Europe and America. There are several versions of this tango depending on whether it was intended as a popular song or played as an orchestral dance piece. We hope you enjoy our interpretation of this famous tango.
