Menuetto Allegretto Symphony No. 40 in G minor, KV. 550, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, also known as the "Big" symphony in G minor, to distinguish it from the "Small" symphony in G minor, The two are the only minor symphonies composed by Mozart , with the exception of a symphony in A minor recently rediscovered from the beginning of his career, known today as the Odense Symphony. The work was completed on June 25, 1788; its composition took place during an exceptionally productive period of a few weeks that year, during which Mozart also completed symphonies 39 and 41 (June 26 and August 10 respectively).
