“SEOULIGHT,” is a a large-scale light show at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) on December. The show combines 220 meters of DDP’s curved silver exterior with splendid lights, images, and music. This winter light festival, hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Design Foundation, will open at the Design Avenue located on the first floor of DDP’s Design Lab from 6 p.m., December 20, 2019 until January 3, 2020. The light show will be held four times a day (7 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m. & 10 p.m.) for 16 minutes each. The theme of this year’s show is “SEOUL HAEMONG,” through which the past, present and future of Seoul and DDP will be visualized in three chapters, providing visitors with a special experience of traveling to the “memory space.” “SEOULIGHT Market” will also be held during the festival, so visitors are allowed to enjoy shopping, concerts, street performances, and food trucks. The Seoul Metropolitan Government said it will make SEOULIGHT one of the representative night tourism contents and strengthen the status of DDP as a cultural asset of Seoul, while vitalizing the local economy in the Dongdaemun area.
