In this video tutorial, I will show you how to use the all new Spectrum Grab feature in Fabfilter&Pro-Q 3 and the new Dynamic EQ filters! Pro-Q 3 was announced and then dropped 2 days later, seemingly out of now where. As soon as I saw the announcement video, I immediately reached out to see if I could get an early copy and, to my surprise, I got it... and, I am not disappointed!! Now there are a number of new features and I have done a general run-down video for Plugin Boutique, however for my channel, I am breaking things down into bite-sized bits. In this video, I show you how to get started with the all new Dynamic EQ system in Pro-Q 3 and also the Spectrum Grab feature. Dynamic EQ nodes make the Pro-Q 3 incredibly powerful. Dynamic EQs are much more surgical. They allow, for example, to only cut frequencies once they pass a threshold. The example I use in the video is a harsh sibilant sound of a "TH" in a vocal. The dynamic EQ filter is only activated when that part happens, which means, when it¬ happening the vocal isn&filtered at all and is allowed to pass by unaffected. There are many uses for dynamic EQ filters, but I think this gives you a good idea as to why they are so powerful. To find that problem frequency range, I used the new Spectrum Grab feature.
