Subaru XV Crosstrek Spark Plug Replacement Is An Easy DIY Job

Don&let the dealership scare into thinking that the spark plugs replacement requires disassembling the engine or lifting the engine up in the engine bay. In this this video I replace all four spark plugs with NGK replacements and Clean up the battery. The spark plugs do require a special or different spark plug socket than we are used to seeing in the past. These cars have a 14mm hex on the spark plug instead of the 5/8th of most vehicles. I use a Snapon Tools 14mm Spark plug socket and a 3" wobble extension to gain easy access to the NGK spark plug recessed in the depth of the cylinder head. The method I used in the video is not the only method of doing this job. I have a couple people tell me that the removal of the entire airbox is necessary to gain access to the passenger side spark plugs. I pull the airbox out of habit because I have done so many head gaskets on the previous generation Subaru's. Here is list of parts and tools require to do the job.
