Hi, John here with a video showing the camera calibration procedures for the SMT550. Under the system menu, click on camera calibration Select the FastCam and move the head assembly so that nozzle 1 is centered in the fast camera view. Click "Calibration" - and then OK for a popup that is probably trying to say "keep your hands out" or "this may take several minutes". This machine has 4 heads, and each has a fast component recognition camera in the front of the machine. The calibration routine handles several things automatically - it compensates for out-of-roundness in the rotation gearing, lens distortion and calibration of how the nozzle looks when it is near, but not centered over the camera. This is used as part of the on-the-fly component rotation positioning - since the heads are not all exactly in a line, they can&all be simultaneously centered over their cameras, and in fact, they only need to be "near" the camera for things to work. The process uses special solid black nozzles with shiny tips that are easily recognized, and which have no moving parts that could contribute to a loss of precision in the calibration process. The fast camera calibration takes about 4 minutes, as does the hi def calibration. I added a soundtrack of the machine in operation - it is amazingly quiet, and the microphone is picking up fan noise from my network switch and clicks from a battery operated clock on the far wall... Calibrating the hidef camera is the same - line up...
