After a few weeks of use, this is a review of my Makita DJR186Z Reciprocating Saw. This one uses one18v lxt battery. There is a model you can get that takes 2 batteries. The saw comes with two blades, a metal cutting blade and a wood cutting blade. Both are quite short, at around 10 cm. I have since bought some bosch blades, which are around 50% longer. In use the saw is a joy to use. A reciprocating saw is really for cutting things apart, and is not the ideal saw for a neat cut. But it could certainly be used for first fittings, or any hidden cuts. Because of the way the balde projects out of the front of the saw it is very versatile and can be used for pruning, trimming, cutting firewood, cutting curves, cutting apart sheds, and other structures including any metal fixings. The ability of this saw to cut through metal as well as wood, is very handy.
