Fishing with Greg Ep. 12 (Aurora Trout) | Rare Fish | Gray Trout | Brook Trout Phenotype

From my blog (read the full version at the link above): On our final morning, we took a special trip to a small lake to catch some aurora trout. This was a great opportunity for me to try out some of the Fosco Fishing Lures spinners my godfather gave me. Greg had been to this lake the week before and kept going on about how easy it was to catch these fish. I was worried he&jinx us! But even on a sunny day in August, the surface temperature of this lake was a cool 67 Fahrenheit. The fish were active. You&only allowed to catch one aurora trout per day, whether you keep it or not, and we limited out in about 20 minutes. Or so we thought! Upon closer inspection, it appears that Heather&fish was actually a "regular" brook trout. We didn&think about this at the time because the Fish ON-Line website (which, admittedly, is not always accurate) does not mention anything about regular brook trout in this lake. But we stopped fishing because I was paranoid about being off-side on any of the regulations. I am somewhat surprised that they would be stocking a lake with, presumably, natural brook trout in it, but it&possible that the brook trout managed to find a way into the lake recently. If someone from MNRF reads this, maybe you can enlighten me?
