Johann Sebastian Bach ( 1685 - 1750) - Organ Prelude in f-moll, BWV 639 Timofei Dokshizer - trumpet & arrengement Olgerts Cintins - organ recorded in the Riga Dome Cathedral 1980 This recording presents for the first time transcriptions of Bach&organ and clavier preludes made by the renowned Soviet trumpet virtuoso Timofei Dokshizer in collaboration with organist Olgerts Cintins. The preludes were recorded in the timehonoured Dom Cathedral in the city of Riga, Latvia. The familiar preludes from "The Well-Tempered Clavier" and the organ preludes acquire a new and unexpected dimension from the unusual sound combination of solo trumpet and organ. For these transcriptions Dokshizer made use of some of Bach&greatest masterpieces, all widely performed by pianists and organists. He selected those preludes in which the melodic element is well defined, and sought to refashion the original Bach text in a convencing manner, fully retaining its artistic integrity. "I am convinced", remarked Dokshizer, "that Bach himself envisioned these preludes for diverse instruments." It is quite remarkable how natural and expressive they sound on the trumpet. Dokshizer&new transcriptions have an important educational value, since the music of Bach is now available to a new group of instrumentalists. As in the first group of transcriptions, Dokshizer exercises the greatest care and musical sensitivity in retaining the voice patterns and tonalities of the original preludes.
