Zoom In On Sound
Deep Purple was one of the first bands which were an inspiration for me to play bassguitar. Roger Glover is a fantastic bassplayer! It’s always in the groove together with Ian Paice on drums. Black Night has got a really steady rockgroove in the beginning of each Verse and under the huitar and Hammond solo’s. In the second half of the Verse Roger plays some fantastic melodic licks with slides and quarter triplets (bar 18 and bar 42). Listen for instance at bars 17-24 or at bars 41-48. In Verse 3 he plays a fast triplet lick in bar 96! Bass: Roger Glover Album: Deep Purple in Rock (1970) Composers: Gillan, Blackmore, Lord, Glover, Paice I play this song on a Fender Precision 1976 with flatwound strings. Standard E-A-D-G tuning. I use a pre-amp to get a bit distorted sound. #rogerglover This video is for educational purpose.
