Moto Vecchio presents a trio of Moto Guzzi Motorcycles. The 1967 V7 700 Corsa Record is an ongoing custom build project, inspired by the 1969 Moto Guzzi 750 Ambassador-based World Record bikes. In 1969, Moto Guzzi requested Chief Engineer Lino Tonti to modify a pair of regular production 750cc Ambassador motorcycles to demonstrate the performance ability of the company&new V-Twin platform. With one machine displacing 742 cc and the other displacing 757 cc, the stripped-down & modified motorcycles set numerous closed circuit world speed and endurance records in both 750cc and 1000cc classes by the end October 1969. The bikes were immediately retired. One World Record bike, believed to be the 742 cc bike, with full fairing remains on display at the Moto Guzzi Factory Museum. The other was sold to a private buyer. It is understood to have been dismantled and no longer exists. Lessons learned from the World Record effort provided the basis for the all-new V7 Sport introduced in 1971. This 1967 V700 Corsa Record is an owner-built street legal tribute to those two World Record bikes and the true origin of the contemporary Moto Guzzi V-Twin performance motorcycle program.
