Ghostbusters 3 (1990) | The Trailer We Never Got

8 авг. 2026 г. #ghostbusters What if Ghostbusters 3 had actually been released in 1990? This fan trailer imagines the sequel that could have followed Ghostbusters II, recreated as faithfully as possible in the style of a Columbia Pictures production from the late 1980s and early 1990s. One thing this project taught me is just how incredibly difficult it is to write a true Ghostbusters sequel. Before making this trailer, I underestimated how complex this universe really is. Ghostbusters isn’t just ghosts and proton packs. It’s a delicate balance of comedy, horror, science fiction, believable characters, practical effects, mythology and world-building. Every new idea has to feel fresh while still respecting everything that came before. I now have a much greater appreciation for why it took so many years for new Ghostbusters films to be developed. It’s one of the hardest franchises imaginable to continue successfully. Personally, I believe the films that followed captured part of that magic, but never quite reached the unique balance of the original two movies. This project also convinced me that AI can become a powerful creative tool for filmmakers. Used responsibly and alongside talented artists, it can help explore ideas that would have been impossible for independent creators only a few years ago. I hope projects like this encourage studios to see AI not as a replacement for filmmaking, but as a new way to prototype, experiment, and perhaps even rediscover stories...
