"World Box" by Subwoofer | Geometry Dash 2.11

This is a really cool and long art level by Subwoofer. As you may have noticed, it uses a ton of references from levels made throughout the history of the game. Subwoofer told me these were all remade from scratch, not copied, and I can definitely tell from how they look. They aren’t a perfect copy, and that’s a good thing. There have been some levels recently reusing other people’s works without specific permission, which could be the topic of an interesting discussion for another day. Another thing to note about this level is its difficulty, or rather the lack of it. It’s an Auto level, meaning that it has to be carried by its visuals to be exciting, and even more so considering its length. Personally, I think it does just that. Subwoofer did a good job of putting in a lot of different references that make for an exciting watch, both in-game and on YouTube in video form. When I first played it, I found myself wondering what’s next at all times, and it did not disappoint. There’s not much else to really say about this. It’s a great way to honor the history of the game, and I’m glad he remade everything instead of copying directly. Putting everything together does make for a transformative work. You can see a ton of names listed on the right side of the screen, which I’m not a huge fan of for viewing purposes, but I understand what he was going for.
