Video tutorial on how to remove the hatch VW emblem on a Volkswagen Golf MKIV. There are no pins in behind the emblem and you can remove it if you are planning on shaving the hatch, replacing it with a new emblem, or are making a custom emblem. The MKIV body style was found between the years 1999.5 to 2004. This particular tutorial was done on a 2002 Volkswagen Golf MKIV. Tools/Supplies Needed: -fishing line or dental floss -small nylon wedge -heat gun or hair dryer Procedure: -wash the hatch to ensure no dirt rubs on the paint surface which can scratch the paint -using a heat gun or hair dryer to warm up the emblem, but this isn&necessary for me as the hatch has been sitting out in the sun for a good portion of the day -using fishing line or dental floss, insert it between the rubber gasket and the painted surface -you can start with any side, I am starting from the top as it&most convenient -work the fishing line or dental floss back and forth is a sawing motion to cut away the adhesive -once you are about half way, insert a wedge at the side you started between the paint and emblem to prevent the fishing line or dental floss from binding up -once you have cut about 75% of the adhesive, it can now be removed by hand -slowly pull it off the hatch, not using excessive force as you can crack the emblem -once removed, using a heat gun or air dryer, soften up the foam adhesive and slowly peal it off -use rubbing alcohol to remove any left over glue residue -when...
