The Hug Project

A terminal cancer diagnosis left Gary with a weakened immune system. Staying safe means he can’t even hug his own daughter. As Americans begin to reunite, those like Gary remain isolated, kept physically apart from loved ones and the support they need. In this film, Cox partners with a tech company to manufacture a special wearable “hug shirt” that emulates a hug and delivers an embrace to those who need it most. The Hug Project follows three families with immune compromised members – unable to be together in-person, sharing hugs via innovative technology and connecting in a whole new way. The Hug Project is part of a larger initiative Cox calls The Connections Project, directed at providing human connection where it’s needed most.
