This short tutorial shows you a simple way to create 3D models of curved grates in Blender without using any addons. This is a beginner tutorial that demonstrates the use of boolean, array and curve modifiers to create grates, cage, grills (perforated sheets) in Blender 3D. Perforated sheets are frequently used in hard surface modeling and industrial design and are an easy way to add detail to 3d models in Blender. I use a non destructive workflow in this tutorial. A non destructive workflow retains the geometry of the core 3d model and adds levels of detail using modifiers. This makes it easier to optimize the 3d model later, to be used as a game asset or for 3D printing.
