The Mermaid&Song, from Act II of the 1826 opera "Oberon" by Carl Maria von Weber (1786-1826). This piece was included in William F. Sudds&National Guide to Reed Organ Playing, published in 1882. The instrument is a single-rank reed organ, the “Model Melodeon” built by the Mason & Hamlin firm of Boston, No. 3694, dated 1859. It was recently restored by Kenneth Pratt of Charles Town, West Virginia, and belongs to opera-loving friends in Washington, DC. Performed by Michael Hendron; recorded 7 April 2018.
