Old bathroom becoming a "hallway/library" but first, old tile needs to be removed. Old school work harder not smarter had me thinking cold chisel and hammer but a friend recommended a rotary hammer and tile chisel. I had used a rotary hammer for concrete demo but never for anything else. So off to Lowes I went and with my military discount, walked away with a Dewalt DCH273 1" rotary hammer SDS with a 1 1/2" wide spade-style tile chisel bit. I discovered that the 1" designation of the 1" rotary hammer refers to the maximum recommended diameter of drill bit that the drill is rated for. All the shanks for the bits for this SDS are the same but the drill bit diameters certainly vary as the needs for larger/smaller holes vary as they do with wood and metal bits. The SDS bits, however, have standardized the bit shanks that chuck into the drill. (I just learned this... so...... Old dog/new tricks!) This is a review of that tool as I used it on the project today. This tool gets my vote!
