Mac Mini 2014 vs 2012

Is the 2014 Mac Mini slower than the 2012 one? Maybe. Here are the somewhat disappointing results: If your workload is embarrassingly parallel and cpu-bound, then yes, it&much slower. If you&I/O bound and not very parallel (my workload), then it&a little faster. The PCIe SSD is worth the extra hundred bucks. --------------- 2012 / 2014 single-core: 2748 / 3065 ← 2014 2.8 GHz dual core i5 is slightly faster multi-core: 10586 / 6436 ← 2012 i7 2.3 GHz quad core i7 is much faster disk read: 447 / 661 MB/s ← 2014 PCIe SSD is much faster disk write: 410 / 717 MB/s ← 2014 PCIe SSD is much faster I&OK with soldering down the RAM, but why doesn&Apple offer a Core i7?? UPDATE: the 2014&wifi reception is horrible, easily the worst of my computers and phones. It can only see two networks (the two in my house), everything else can see 8+. Once or twice a day, it suddenly refuses to connect to my network and requires a cold reboot to bring back. This is too much. I might actually return this Mini...
