#234 Samsung SyncMaster 245B 24" Monitor Repair

My brother in law gave me a faulty Samsung 24" SyncMaster monitor, it had died about 6 weeks earlier and he thought I may be interested in it, he was right :-) I was pretty lucky and was able to repair it, after not finding any obvious faults after an initial inspection I did a quick google search and found mentions of open resistors, I checked around and sure enough, found an open resistor, I then also found a leaking (expanded) electrolytic capacitor, which still had an intact vent, but had blown the bottom out instead!
