Music: Jean-Pierre Taïeb — Running After My Fate From the motion picture: The Storm Gate (2006) “The Storm Gate” is a story about how people are deliberately placed under fire—and it’s called a “mission.” Doronin’s company is sent to hold a mountain pass. Higher command assures them there are only a few militants in the area, but it’s a lie: the strike has been prepared in advance. Then comes the most terrifying part: those in charge know that at least fifteen hundred militants are in the region, and yet they still leave a small handful of soldiers to block the pass with their own bodies so the band can’t break through. They aren’t simply “not reinforced”—they’re positioned as a barrier meant to buy time. Command sends a relief column, but it sets out too late. The last stand turns the pass into a meat grinder: attacks roll in wave after wave, men fall one by one, and there’s nowhere to retreat—behind them are roads, and other people’s lives. «Грозовые ворота» — это история о том, как людей сознательно ставят под удар и называют это «задачей». Роту Доронина отправляют держать горный перевал: сверху уверяют, что в секторе боевиков немного, но это ложь — удар готовится заранее.
