Queens Of The Stone Age’s Song For The Dead features some of the most intense, exciting, and straight-up ruthless drumming I’ve ever heard. The song was performed on the record “Songs For The Deaf” by Dave Grohl. Frankly, the man needs no further introduction. This song is a classic drumming performance from him and a must-play for a drum cover content creator. 00:14 The song kicks off with an iconic drum intro. It features rapid-fire drum patterns and thundering tom hits, giving the song an unpredictable personality. Talk about grabbing listeners’ attention early. 00:35 The intro sets up a high-octane drum beat where no cymbals and drums are spared - it’s balls to the wall from here on. 02:58 This is my favorite part to play. The groove makes the song’s momentum relentless and infectious. There is lots of space for high-intensity triplet fills here as well. 05:28 The outro is as cathartic and climactic as it gets. The drums and guitar work together to create a crescendo that ends the song in a towering high. I have often wondered how on earth did Dave come up with these drum parts. They may sound simple, yet nailing them down with his level of precision and power is a tall order for any drummer. Since starting this channel, I’ve had this song pinned down as one to cover. I’m happy I’m finally here. Hope you enjoyed watching it as much as I did recording it! #davegrohl
