Shocking Blue was a Dutch rock band, formed in The Hague in 1967 by Robbie van Leeuwen. After Mariska Veres took over the vocals, the group became popular all over the world. The song "Venus" was there first international succes hitsong. Although the song was forbidden in the former Sovjet Union. The record still became very popular in those countries behind the &wall&In the USA the record reached the number one place.
