It lies at the confluence of the Vuka River and the Danube. The older, eastern part of the city is located on the right bank of the Vuka, on the slopes of the Vukovar plateau and the high Danube bank. On the other hand, the western part of the city, New Vukovar, with Borovo Naselje, is situated in the lowlands of the left bank of the Vuka.
