*Watch in 1080p!* Today was a very sad day for British aviation & engineering as the last airworthy Avro Vulcan Bomber flew its farewell tour of the UK. Date Filmed: 11th October 2015. On the Sunday 11th October 2015, XH558 took to the skies from Doncaster &Hood&Airport to take part in its final tour around the UK. Yesterday, the aircraft flew its Northern route and today it was the turn of the south to see this spectacular beast one last time! I had positioned myself at Gloucester to get my last glimpse of this iconic British aircraft & I was lucky to enough to get airside to film it. At approximately 1530pm, the Vulcan appeared over the horizon inbound from Cardiff & Llandegfedd for one final flypast over Staverton Airport. Listen to the roar of the four Olympus engines throttle up as it departs to the east towards Brize Norton. A little bit of history about this aircraft now. The Vulcan was produced by Avro between 1956 & 1965. 136 were produced with only one still flying, but only for another two weeks. The Vulcan appeared in many conflicts during its time in the RAF including the Falkland&war in the 1980&where in mission Black Buck, it bombed the runway at Port Stanley to halt Argentinean advances, ultimately helping Britain win the war.
