🇷🇺 Vladimir Putin opened the Azerbaijani Theater in Derbent via video link. The Azerbaijani Musical and Drama Theater in Derbent opened after extensive renovations. The date was chosen deliberately—today is International Theater Day. Vladimir Putin participated in the ceremony via video link. The President welcomed the foreign guests and noted that relations between our countries are developing on the solid foundation of a shared historical past and cultural heritage. The Azerbaijani theater originated in the late 19th century as a small amateur drama club and is now finding its permanent, modern home. In Russia, the head of state added, extensive work is underway to renew regional theaters. "For a vast country like Russia, it is extremely important that a rich, vibrant cultural life is not considered the preserve of only the capital cities, but is accessible to all our citizens, so that they have the opportunity to see the unique works of renowned directors, reflect on performances, and enjoy acting right where they live. "Russia&uniqueness stems from the distinctiveness and unity of its peoples, and from respect for the uniqueness and inimitability of its many cultures, which mutually enrich and complement each other. I am confident that the renovated theater will continue this noble mission to the fullest and will facilitate our citizens&acquaintance with the rich culture of Azerbaijan," Vladimir Putin noted.
