Some crushing metal riffs with the Dimarzio X2N Ibanez RGR652ahbf - in drop B (ash body, maple neck + ebony fingerboard) NYXL strings - 60 low string the rest from a 1156 set Audient ID4 interface TSE 808 (OD808 plugin) Thermionik FB100 vst Twonotes Wall of Sound cab sim (h75 + k100) My thoughts : the X2N has ridiculous output =0 probably too much for my usage, but with the right amp/setup sounds can sound absolutely huge, harmonics fly and its quite compressed , some sort of EQ/overdrive to tighten up the low end, especially at these lower tunings can be useful, but has so much boost from the pickups alone, things get extremely saturated, i find myself having to boost high end as well to get the sort of cut/presence i&after pickup height makes a big difference, i&around 5mm on the bass side and a bit below 4mm on the treble side , still crazy output, makes it hard to balance with the neck pickup for lower gain stuff, but it¬ really the pickup for that imo, in any case pretty crazy to think this pickup came out in the late 70s! i&got a BKP aftermath on order, very curious how that will compare, I previously had a SD Nazgul in there but wasn&quite enough output for my liking, this is the opposite =) -- -- -- -- -- -- #ibanez
