This is one of our favorite bluegrass songs of all time! Louisa Branscomb wrote "Steel Rails" when she was 20 and it has been recorded by both Alison Krauss and John Denver. We performed this song years ago when Emmett first joined our group and worked it back up because so many of you requested it in the comments! Like many bluegrass songs, the lyrics get passed down by ear and we&so grateful Louisa has since got in touch to share the correct lyrics (so you may notice different words in the captions!) :) ►Need more bluegrass train songs in your life? ----------------------- This is our first video with the blond dobro Emmett acquired in early 2021. It&a Byrl with a deeper sound, perfect for hard-driving bluegrass songs. His original mahogany Scheerhorn isn&going anywhere, it&just more suited to melodic, pretty songs. We also bought Emmett a travel dobro for Christmas so he doesn&have to put his in the belly of an airplane when we&on tour. A man can never have too many dobros, right? He tunes the Scheerhorn to G, and the Byrl to D. ----------------------- ►Useful links: ►Social media: Go behind the scenes with @ThePetersenFamily ►This video: Lead vocal and fiddle: @katiepetersen Harmony vocal and banjo: @EllenHaygood Harmony vocal and guitar: @mattpetersen4000 Mandolin: @JuliannePetersen Dobro: Emmett Franz Bass: Cutie Patootie Karen Petersen Key moments: 0:01 instrumental 1:07 fiddle 2:04 guitar 2:13 dobro 2:55 outro We are so thankful for our friends at...
