Gentle Linux
This video is to share how smooth Zoneminder can run. This is being run on a Dell SFF 7010 with a Intel i5-3550 3.3Ghz CPU. I upgraded the ram to 8gb however when you watch video you can see how that is overkill. For storage I have installed a Western Digitial Purple Surveillance 2tb harddrive. The case also houses a 120gb Kingston SSD for a different OS. Zoneminder configured w. 2x Trendnet1 TV-IP311PI 1x Hikvision DS-2CD3132F-IW Note: During the day the frame rate is normally about 25fps (frame per second). At night something odd happens with theTrendnet IP cameras regardless if IR is enabled or not. They will drop to about 5fps. It is without a doubt something to do w the firmware and light sensor. The Hikvision DS-2CD3132F-IW is always consistent. I have loaded Hikvision firmware on the Trendnet cams to verify. NOT an easy task. Tip: Get Hikvision cameras from overseas to begin with. As you notice when I run &{htop is a linux program to display system performance in realtime -- long story short} the processor is taking a beating. The reason being is Zoneminder should only be run as a &and viewed when needed from a different PC on the LAN. That is best demonstrated when I close the window of the camera views. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
