Megacolon is a condition where the colon becomes flaccid and unable to expel fecal material, aka poop. This condition can become life threatening and requires medical management with medications to help the colon contract; as well as special diets to make it easier to poop. Sometimes manual removal of fecal material (while under anesthesia) is needed to allow fecal material to pass and provide patient comfort.
