Just a quick video on removing the CVT 4WD transmission from a 2005 - 2007 Ford Freestyl. If you¬ mechanically inclined don&bother trying to do this. The transmission can be removed without having to drop the subframe. You will have to remove the battery and battery tray, intake air box, radiator and fan assembly, lower and upper rad hose, upper rad hose housing, headlights and front bumper cover, remove front drive shafts, unbolt the propeller shaft from the transfer case, remove the transfer case while it&still in the car there is a difficult 15 mm bolt to get to at the top of the transfer case you will need a wrench to crack that one loose, remove the transmission dust shield and remove the bolts to the flywheel, remove the transmission oil cooler lines have a pale ready to catch the oil that comes out of the lines, loosen the upper rad cradle so you can pull the transmission up from the top using the engine lift. As you begin to separate the transmission from the engine have a ratchet strap and put it around the transmission making sure that it will hold in the torque converter you do not want the torque converter to fall out of the transmission it will break the seal that&inside of it.
