So far, this has been the most challenging bass player to analyze for a reaction video! The flawless playing by Dominic “Forest” Lapointe (previously of @BeyondCreationMetal) on his 6-string fretless is like mechanical engineering meets abstract art — on bass. It’s been years since I’ve heard his name (that’s on me!), but I completely understand why he has been one of our TOP requests lately. This bass playthrough of “Gula” by @FirstFragmentQC showcases literal perfect bass technique with zero wasted movement. I suspect Dominic could play for an hour straight without stopping and still feel relaxed - the fretting-hand control combined with a three-finger angled plucking technique is pure mastery. In this video, I zero in on his classical technique style, sitting bass position, plucking-hand placement relative to each bass pickup, and more. I quickly become intrigued by the two-handed tapping and SLAPPING (!!!) integration within his cutting, lead-like bass lines.
