The wonderful sound of the Tierce in the left hand - the "Tierce in the Body" - a sweetness which sings through - although better in an unequal temperament. Rather than playing my usual organ it was interesting to try this Kenneth Tickell instrument in the French style. It&difficult to get to grips with the distractions of making quavers of unequal time value and other notes equal in the usual way, and the ornaments which are a shorthand for part of the direction of the tune. These pieces take on a the spirit of a dance but in a contemplative way. The registration of a Tierce en Taille is rather obscure to English organists - it&a "Jeu de Tierce" - a Cornet Separé without the 2ft - so a Bourdon 8, Flute or Principal 4, Nazard and Tierce, perhaps sometimes with a Larigot (or L&on top. It&accompanied by a Montre - a dull flutey Diapason on the Grand Orgue (Great).
