There is a lot of bad advice in this video. I have since made better videos on planetary imaging. Click here to get to them: Link to my website on planetary imaging: Link to all my planetary imaging videos In this video I show you how to make a nice picture of the planet Jupiter using the NexStar 5SE telescope and Celestron&NexImage 5 camera with a quick tutorial for using iCap and RegiStax software. At the end of the video I show how to use the histogram feature to make the dark background even darker by cutting off (zeroing out) the really dark pixels (on the left side of the histogram). You should also move the red line on the right side of the histogram inwards to brighten the image. Because I didn&do this the gamma function was able to do essentially the same thing. It makes more sense to do this via the histogram though. I show how to do this in my other video "Lose the green" starting two minutes into that video. Lose the green I now have 3 videos on the topic of imaging planets with a webcam. This one, Lose the green, and How to find Saturn with a webcam The NexImage 5 "webcam" camera on Amazon Another webcam for planetary imaging The NexStar 5SE telescope You can get answers to all your astronomy related questions on Cloudy Nights The Teaching Company has many great courses on DVD related to astronomy Our Night Sky Understanding the Universe: An Introduction to Astronomy, 2nd Edition Many more
