Finally I have it (again): An 1998 SiliconGraphics O2 complements my collection! Designed to be an entry level companion workstations to the higher-end SGI contemporary Octane series, the O2 was mainly targeted at video and audio markets. With it&unified architecture, it offered only one single graphics option, however with ample of different audio and video boards available, it was just about right for multimedia production. Today we&going to pay a visit to my friend George and get a glimpse at his collection, before he eventually hands me over one of his precious O2 workstations, to complement my collection. But it won&end here, as there&still plenty to do for me! 00:00 Intro 00:43 A glimpse at George&collection 02:04 Piecing together the SGI O2 for me 03:22 Back home: Getting the SGI O2 into shape 05:33 Some historic insights into the SGI O2 10:14 Unexpected drive troubles 11:35 Installing SGI IRIX 6.5 12:34 Conclusion 13:28 Credits Links: The SGI O2 in Wikipedia: SGI&press 1998 "price cut" anouncement: Source to Switzerland&1995 & 1996 SGI Pricelist: SGI IRIX 6.5 hardening guide: Copyright @ 2023 THE PHINTAGE COLLECTOR, Gianpaolo Del Matto.
