BMW 335i E92 N54 - No Start Diagnosis - Starter Removal - Part 1/2 Always disconnect Battery positive terminal before starting work. Chance of short/sparks when removing starter if battery is still connected. Customers Concern - When trying to start vehcle, high pitched whining sound is heard but engine does not crank. When starting vehicle, whining noise is heard, every time the start/stop button is pressed. This confirms the signal line to the starter is supplying 12v (start signal) to the starter itself. The starter gorunds out through the starter casing to the engine block, through engine ground straps to the body of the vehicle. Engine Starter is defective.
