The hip roll here is one half of the vertical infinity loop or figure 8 of the hips. Let us remember our vertical hips figure 8: roll your hip  in a circular motion - down, out, up and in... down, out, up and in... down, out, up and in...  down, out, up and in... Now let&take a half of this infinity loop and convert it into a travel step. You start the hip roll on the side where you weight is. As your hip reaches the top of its  vertical circle, now it&time to shift weight, but instead of just shifting weight onto a standing leg, you will make a step..... step.....then bring the other foot in, feet together.
