Here in this video I demonstrate the correct procedures, and tools required to properly perform a valve adjustment on the 2004-2009 series Honda CRF250R dirt bike. In this video, our customer stated he had performance issues and his bike was hard to start. After performing a cylinder compression test, I was able to determine that compression was 0 P.S.I. After performing a leak down test, I was able to determine that the intake valves were leaking greater than 30%. I found out that the intake valves were being held open by about .002-.003" and that was enough to have enough compression leakage to have performance loss. I took a guess after measuring the valve shims that were installed, and was able to get all the intake and exhaust valves to the proper clearance the first time. Sometimes I don&always get the proper clearances the first time, and an additional valve adjustment is required in these particular situations, but my experience pulled through and I was able to restore loss power to my customers dirt bike for an affordable price all in the same day. Standard cylinder compression on these dirt bikes is 57 P.S.I @ 800 r.p.m. Due to the fact these engines are high compression, 12.2:1 compression ratio, cylinder and valve blow by should not exceed 3% or this is typically an indication of valve train or power train damage or wear. If you don&have the proper tools or feel confident performing these procedures...
