ABOUT LS3/5A BBC SPEAKERS If you have an active interest in HiFi, you will have heard of the legendary ‘LS3/5a‘ bookshelf Speakers, a near field monitor, designed by the BBC for use in their outside broadcast vans in the early 70’s, and built by a number of Speaker manufacturers (Spendor, Rogers, Harbeth, Chartwell, Falcon, Sterling etc) under licence from the BBC. Producing exceptional sound quality for their size, the BBC agreed that the LS3/5a’s could be sold to the general public and a large number were sold worldwide. Over the last 50 years, new production runs of LS3/5a’s appeared from time to time but were sold out very quickly. Secondhand Speakers are hard to find and generally expensive.
