DIY Vermicompost Bin How To Build Your Own Worm Farm

The project starts with a generic plastic tote, depending on how large your family is will dictate how large a tote you want to use for your vermicompost bin. For my fiance and I this smaller size will be plenty enough. I drilled 20 11/64 inch holes several inches from the top of the tote where the lid attaches. These holes will allow the worms and the compost to breath with air circulation. After that I drilled a 7/8 inch hole towards that bottom of the bin where I attached my drain system for the vermicompost bin. I used three egg cartons to create a platform for the compost to sit on so any fluids that may gather won&be in the compost. In the video you can see how I trimmed the egg cartons to fit inside of the tote. One I attached my pvc drainage and the egg cartons I place the red worms and food scraps I had all ready been gathering into the vermicompost bin. That&it! I&ready to recycle all of my food scraps now.
