(References listed below) Visiting the gynecologist for a yearly pelvic examination has been known to cause anxiety, pain, and discomfort for patients. These feelings of distress have been determined as the main reasons for patient avoidance of the gynecologist, specifically for the pelvic exam. This study will investigate patient anxiety, discomfort, and avoidance that accompany the pelvic examination within the American gynecological system. Exploration of the sources of anxiety and physical discomfort will uncover possible design solutions to improve the pelvic examination experience. Reducing patient anxiety due to the pelvic examination will lessen pain and embarrassment during the examination as well as encourage patients to properly care for their bodies References: (00:30 - 00:45) G.
