We test the sound difference between the Shure BETA 91A and the Behringer BA19A in a 22 inch kick drum. It is clear that Behringer didn&try to hide that it is a &of the BETA 91A, the fact that the numbers are the same but switched around says it all. But, how well does it hold up against the real thing soundwise? BA19A and the BETA 91A are Boundary Condenser MIcrophones and is most commonly used in kick drums, both mics sounds great, but they are not exactly the same, and heres why. As an Audio Engineer, the BETA 91A is a great mic to use on a kick, especially live since you don&need a stand for it which means, less space wasted since it&just a &it in&and you&good to go with very little EQ needed to make it fit in a mix. The BA19A is basically the same, better at some points, and sadly worse at some points too. The BETA 91A kinda sounds the same for every kick drum, it doesn&vary that much, which is a good thing since it makes it very versatile, but boring at the same time, it&the opposite with the BA19A, no kick sounds the same and it can sound extremely good on the right kick, but it can really sound nasty on a bad kick too, it doesn&mask well compared to the BETA 91A. Other then that, the Behringer is a killer mic, and kills the BETA 91A! The Behringer costs 1/4 of what the Shure does and side by side, they don&feel to different in weight or build quality, Behringer really did a good job.
