Narcissus Martinette is a daffodil in the Group 8 of the Daffodil Classification (Tazetta Daffodils), raised by I. Tuggle Jr. in Virginia, U.S.A., and registered before 1985 by the Cornwall Area Bulb Growers Association. It is a cross between Matador (seed parent) and Narcissus jonquilla (pollen parent). It bears 4-5 flowers per stem, with lemon yellow tepals and a cup-shaped corona, ribbed, bright orange. It has a sweet fragrance with notes of mint and liquorice , not as strong as most tazetta daffodils but still quite intense and a nice addition to fragrant gardens in USDA zones 8 and 9. As usual for daffodils, the bulbs need to be planted in autumn in well drained soil, and the plant thrives in full sun or at least partial shade. In summer the foliage dies down and bulbs can either be lifted and divided, or left in place keeping them as dry as possible.
