I wanted to make a concept trailer based on the story from the video game Getting Up - to prove to Hollywood producers it would be a wicked feature film. The idea was to take my proof of concept trailer and present it to the fans. If it was good enough, I thought, they could help build hype to start a conversation with Marc Ecko about the possibility of making a full-feature film. So I set out with an unwavering belief in this project, my savings, a group of super-talented mates, and a pocket full of favors. However, the most impressive part of this story started once we wrapped. Not two days after we finished filming, I posted a few photos from the trailer onto a Getting Up Discord group, and that’s when everything got real! The images and “behind the scenes” were shared so many times that Marc Eckō saw them and reached out to me himself. My mind was blown. We soon got talking about all things Getting Up.
