Hit me up for online guitar lessons! A backing track for practicing your 3rd mode of F Major over. Note that even though this mode starts on A, we are still in the scale of F Major. This is simply the third mode of F Major; which starts at the third note in the scale, A. Major Scale formula: W W H W W W H W= whole step (two frets) H= half step (one fret) Notes in F Major: F G A A# C D E Major Scale Triads/Chords formula: M m m M M m D M= Major m= minor D= Diminished Triads/Chords of F Major: F, Gm, Am, AC, Dm, E diminished *a Major triad consists of root, third and fifth. To make a minor triad flat the third (take it down a half step, or one fret). For a diminished triad flat the third and the fifth. Mode: E 5 6 8 A 5 7 8 D 5 7 8 G 5 7 9 B 6 8 10 E 6 8 10 Triad = A Minor In this mode the root or first note is A, the third is C, and the fifth is E. This is the triad of A Minor (A C E). Notice that the chord of A Minor only consists of these three notes. Through teaching I found that most students get good at using their first mode, but have a hard time sounding out their other modes. So I created backing tracks for each mode consisting of the chord derived of the triad of the present mode (in this instance A Minor) and the root chord (F Major, since we are playing our modes in F Major).
