Carnaval 2023: Rio Carnival Escolas da Samba Ao Vico Welcome to Rio de Janeiro’s samba school dress rehearsals, in Portuguese, these are called Ensaio Tecnicos. Today, I’m giving you a behind-the-scenes look at the dress rehearsals of a few Rio samba schools. Every year, the month before Carnival, all of the schools are allowed to practice coming down the parade route. On the last day there are also a test of the Lighting and Sound for the Sambodromo stadium. We’re at the Sambodromo stadium where all of the schools will parade to see who will be Rio Carnival Champions 2023. We’ll get to know some of the members of the school, from the costume designers to the samba dancers, as they practice their routine for the big show. We’ll even speak to fans in teh stadium as they cheer on their favorite escola da samba and dancers.
