A computerized tomography (CT) coronary angiogram is an imaging test that looks at the arteries that supply blood to the heart. A CT coronary angiogram uses a powerful X-ray machine to produce images of the heart and its blood vessels. The test is used to diagnose a variety of heart conditions. The most common reason to have a CT angiogram is to see if you have narrowed or blocked coronary arteries. But your healthcare provider may use a CT angiogram to diagnose any condition involving your blood vessels, including: Aneurysms, irregular bulges or widening of your blood vessels. Atherosclerosis (fatty plaques that build inside blood vessels). Coronary artery disease. Pulmonary embolism.
