How to put Antifreeze into a Volkswagen Jetta (That you rented from Alamo) Rented this car from Alamo in Seattle. And what!! A red light comes on. Looked up the error. Low on Antifreeze or engine overheated. I am like - well do I drive the car 1 hour to the Airport, get a different car and then drive back to where I was? The car could have died in the highway had I not opened the hood. So the tale ends at the autoparts store getting the proper premix antifreeze for this rental car that I do not even own. That is HOW MUCH I did not want to go back and deal with Alamo about their car. Someone had taken off the black lid to the antifreeze bottle and had it cross threaded back on. Crazy stuff. But I lucked out and got it figured out and the car headed north. Did Alamo car rental at Seatac reimburse me for the Antifreeze? No. If I was smart I would have put water in it. Not my car. But I did the RIGHT THING. Anyone else may have kept driving it and blown up the engine on the road. Manager at Alamo promised me a $100 gift certificate. The Certificate will give me $100 off my next Alamo Rental Will that really come? Time will tell. Stay tuned.
